Hundreds Of Civilians Including Many With Small Children Have Fled The Eastern Ukrainian City Of Pokrovsk As Russian Troops Advance

Russian attacks force civilians to flee eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk

Hundreds of civilians, including many with small children, have fled the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk as Russian troops advance.

Pokrovsk has come under repeated Russian attack in recent weeks.

The civilians gathered on their city's train station platform by the hundreds, lugging heavy suitcases and carrying small children in their arms.

They were fleeing the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, where Russian troops have been advancing in recent weeks.

A Ukrainian soldier stationed in Pokrovsk told the BBC's Ukrainecast podcast that the Ukrainians must defend a critical front in their country's east, including the city of Pokrovsk, while trying to press forward in western Ukraine.

The Russian attacks have forced thousands of civilians to flee Pokrovsk in recent weeks.

Many of the civilians who fled Pokrovsk are now living in other parts of Ukraine, while others have fled to neighboring countries.

The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is worsening as the Russian attacks continue.

The United Nations estimates that more than 10 million Ukrainians have been displaced from their homes since the Russian invasion began in late February.

Here are some tips for helping Ukrainian refugees:

  • Donate to reputable charities that are providing aid to Ukrainian refugees.
  • Volunteer your time to help Ukrainian refugees.
  • Contact your local government officials and ask them to support Ukrainian refugees.

The Ukrainian people need our help. Please do what you can to help them during this difficult time.
