Eintracht Frankfurt Triumphs in 2022 Europa League Final

Rangers' Hopes Dashed After 42-Year Wait for Glory

Frankfurt Claims First Major European Title Since 1980

In a thrilling night at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville, Eintracht Frankfurt claimed its first major European title in over 40 years by defeating Rangers 5-4 on penalties in the 2022 Europa League final. The match ended 1-1 after regulation time, with neither side able to break the deadlock in extra time.

Rangers took the lead in the 57th minute when Aaron Ramsey converted a rebound from Ryan Kent's shot, but Frankfurt equalized just seven minutes later through Rafael Borre's header. Both teams had chances to win the game in regulation time, but neither side could find a decisive breakthrough.

In the penalty shootout, Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was the hero, saving Aaron Ramsey's spot-kick and then scoring the winning penalty himself. The victory marks Frankfurt's first major European trophy since they won the UEFA Cup in 1980.
